Good morning, Philomath.

Today’s newsletter leads with Philomath Fire and Rescue’s closure of its Wren substation. We talked to fire chief Chancy Ferguson about it. I also went to Philomath High’s swim team practice on Thursday afternoon to write a preview on the district meet, which runs today and Saturday in Albany. The county’s emergency manager will be speaking in Philomath Tuesday and the public is invited. And for those seeking seasonal outdoor work, Siuslaw National Forest will be hiring. Partner content includes a piece on the controversial transportation tax referendum. — Brad Fuqua, Publisher/Editor
