Happy Halloween, Philomath.
Philomath High’s football season came to an end Friday night when playoff-bound Estacada ran for 493 yards in a 63-14 win on Senior Night, the final game for the Warriors’ 11 seniors. Coverage includes a photo gallery by Andy Cripe. With Halloween here, this week’s Three Things column takes a shot at describing what makes Philomath special, catches up with Daxbot’s security and sidewalk-measuring robots and recalls a late-night trick-or-treat outing from childhood. An Oregon Journalism Project investigation found the state is sending hundreds of millions of dollars to for-profit online schools with poor results, with little oversight and graduation rates well below state averages. And in the latest OSP Log, two drivers died when log trucks collided on Highway 204 near Elgin after one of them swerved to avoid a deer. — Brad Fuqua, Publisher/Editor
