VOLUME 7, NUMBER 23
Wednesday, January 28, 2026

Good morning, Philomath.

It’s been four years since Philomath has been able to beat Cascade in boys basketball and the Warriors pulled it off last night in the rivalry’s latest chapter. Coverage includes a photo gallery by Andy Cripe. In the late game, the girls lost a close one to the Cougars, 59-53. Jay Sexton of Philomath and Greg Johnson of Blodgett are featured in a story about disc golf. We have an obituary for Richard “Dick” Cobb. The latest installment of Mount Union Stories is also on the news site. Content from our news partners include a decision related to logging on federal land, fewer immigrants seeking health care and 2026 ballot initiatives that are very different. — Brad Fuqua, Publisher/Editor
