VOLUME 4, NUMBER 37
Good Afternoon. It’s Friday, February 17, 2023
Congrats to Roman Padar on being named as a National Merit Scholarship finalist. This is a big deal not only for Roman but for a small school like Philomath High. I tried to do some quick research to see if I could figure out when PHS last had a finalist but archive searching didn’t turn up anything definitive from recent years in the short amount of time I had this morning to spend on it (Scott Manske in 1973 came up). I’ve written about the occasional student who earned semifinalist status and maybe some of them moved on to become finalists and I wasn’t told (the national organization issues press releases when the semifinalists are named but not for the finalists — that’s left up to the schools). Hint, hint, if anyone knows of a finalist between 1973 and now, I’d be interested to know. Anyway, great job Roman.
Thanks for reading!
