She was the mother of six children, two of whom preceded her to the unknown. A son, William, died at the age of 14, and a daughter, Mrs. H.E. Cain, passed away at her mother’s home in Corvallis 3-1/2 years ago. She leaves to mourn her two sons, J.L. of Seaside, and C.C. of Caldwell, Ira., and two daughters, Mrs. Grace Powell of Ridgefield, Wash., and Mrs. Bertha McIntyre of this city. There are 11 grandchildren and 11 great-grandchildren.

In early life Mrs. Gurwell united with the Baptist church and has always been a consistent and active member. She was a devoted mother, a kind neighbor and friends, and news of her passing was received in Corvallis with universal regret.
