MRS. LIUM IS DEAD
———
Daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Will-
iam Knotts Passes Away
In Tucson, Arizona
———

A telegram coming to Mr. and Mrs. William Knotts this morning brought the sorrowful news of the passing early this morning of their daughter, Ethel Knotts Lium. Mrs. Lium, wife of Elder Lium of Florida, died in Tucson, Arizona, where she was taken several months ago when relatives became aware that her long and lingering illness had become critical. Mr. Lium was at the bedside. The remains are to be brought to Corvallis by Mr. Lium and the funeral will be held here, the date to be announced later.

Ethel Knotts Lium was born on the Knotts estate north of Corvallis, the birthplace of her father, 24 years ago. She attended Benton county schools and O.A.C., graduating from the college in 1922. After teaching two years in southern Oregon she married Elder Lium of Grants Pass and the couple went to Florida to reside. Mrs. Lium came back to Oregon early last summer upon learning of the illness of her mother, Mrs. Knotts. She remained here several months and the illness, which already had taken its hold upon her, was through the summer gradually sapping her vitality and strength. In the late summer she accompanied Mr. Lium to Tucson where she improved for a time, but in recent weeks had failed rapidly.

A beautiful and talented girl, Mrs. Lium was generally beloved for her sweet and gentle disposition and lovable characteristics. She was a member of Alpha Xi Delta sorority.

The parents, Mr. and Mrs. William Knotts, survive with one sister, Mrs. Tom Owens of Raymond, Washington, and a brother, William Jr.
