DEATH BY ACCIDENT.

Mr. David Gerad, while on his way from his home near Mary’s Peak to Philomath last Saturday, was so badly hurt in a runaway accident that his death ensued on Sunday. It is supposed that the wagon brake was defective and he in consequence lost control of his team. The wagon ran against a stump, was overturned, and when found he was lying on the ground with six ribs broken and blood streaming from his ears and in an unconscious condition. He was taken to the home of Mr. Koberstine, his wounds dressed and made as comfortable as possible, but death came to his relief at noon on Sunday. He leaves a wife and four small children in almost destitute circumstances. His remains were interred in Newton cemetery Tuesday afternoon.
