The Linn-Benton Community College Board of Education approved a 7% tuition increase for the upcoming academic year during its March meeting, raising in-state tuition from $149.80 to $160.30 per credit hour.
Fees will also increase from $22.05 to $23.25 per credit hour. Out-of-state tuition will rise from $348.19 to $372.55 per credit hour.
The new rates take effect for summer term registration. Summer classes begin June 29.
Board Chair Jeff Davis acknowledged the impact the increase will have on students and families while framing it as a necessary step to address a budget deficit.
“This was not an easy decision, and we explored every option before arriving here,” Davis said. “Through difficult work, the college was able to address its budget deficit without eliminating a single credit academic program, and this tuition increase is part of what makes that possible.”
Davis added that the board remains committed to keeping LBCC on solid financial footing to serve the region long term.
