The fate of a Heritage Tree showing signs of Dutch elm disease will be a topic of discussion during a Philomath Public Works Committee meeting at 8:30 a.m. Friday at Philomath City Hall.

The American elm is one of the most visible trees in town with its location along Applegate Street in front of Philomath Community Library. The tree was tested for the disease and committee members will discuss next steps.

Also on the agenda is a review of a tree giveaway event and an update on the city’s Tree City USA status.

The meeting will be livestreamed on the city’s YouTube channel.
