WEDNESDAY, JAN. 14
• 5:33 p.m. — Firefighters responded to a report of smoke in the 3000 block of Main Street with an engine, four personnel and an incident commander. The crew was told by the homeowner that a cooking mistake had occurred. Firefighters removed burned taco shells and helped with ventilating the home. The appliance was tested prior to the crew’s return to the station. The fire department credited the homeowner for reacting quickly by keeping the oven door closed and turning off the appliance when the smoke was seen.

THURSDAY, JAN. 15
• 6:13 p.m. — Emergency medical services responded to a two-vehicle crash at the intersection of Highway 34 and Grange Hall Road. A driver and passenger from one of the vehicles were transported to Good Samaritan Regional Medical Center in Corvallis with injuries of unspecified severity. The driver of the second vehicle involved refused further medical treatment. The Benton County Sheriff’s Office investigated the crash. The crew cleaned up fluid spilled onto the roadway. Fire and Rescue’s response included two engines, a rescue vehicle and two command vehicles.
