The Philomath High School girls tennis team dropped a 5-3 decision at Dallas High School on Thursday with three singles and doubles victories not enough to overcome the Dragons on the road.

Juniors Lucy Thomas and Lizzie Workman both won their singles matches. Thomas at No. 1 singles dispatched junior Sayre Irving 6-2, 6-4, while Workman at No. 2 singles rallied past junior Addisyn Moore 4-6, 6-3, 6-4 in a three-set battle. Dallas took the other two singles matchups, with junior Kassidy Guy defeating junior Cecilia Milesi 2-6, 6-3, 6-2 at No. 3 and senior Laurel Lund beating junior Isabelle Norman 6-1, 6-0 at No. 4.

The No. 1 doubles team of senior Lucie Oster and junior Clara Neville provided Philomath’s lone point in that portion of the draw, rallying past seniors Jenna Rogers and Navy Latta 6-4, 6-7, 7-5 in a three-set thriller. Philomath senior Logan Cook and sophomore Bella Nunez got off to a good start at No. 2 doubles against seniors Audrey Eastlund and Kenady Morrison but lost in three sets. Seniors Lacey Bacho and Lucy King, and sophomores Cambria Braudrick and Audrey Glover came up short at No. 3 and No. 4, respectively.

Philomath’s next match is scheduled for 4 p.m. March 31, at Valley Catholic.
