The City of Philomath is accepting applications through Dec. 31 for 13 volunteer positions across seven city committees. Appointments will be made at the Jan. 12 City Council meeting.
Two Planning Commission positions are available, including one four-year term and one unexpired term ending Dec. 31, 2026. The seven-member commission makes decisions on zoning, land use and development, typically meeting on third Mondays.
Two positions are available on the Budget Committee for standard three-year terms. The committee includes seven volunteers who work alongside the seven elected City Council members, meeting several times each spring and receiving budget updates throughout the year.
The Park Advisory Board has two openings for three-year terms. The seven-member volunteer board makes recommendations to the City Council on park-related issues and typically meets on first Tuesdays. The city is particularly encouraging applications from residents interested in helping coordinate the annual Music in the Park summer concert series.
The Public Art Committee has one opening for an unexpired term ending Dec. 31, 2027. The five-member volunteer committee, which includes one nonvoting City Council member, advises the council and staff on public art matters and typically meets on third Tuesdays.
Three positions are open on the Inclusivity Committee, which meets monthly on fourth Tuesdays to develop programs and events promoting diversity, equity and inclusion. Two openings are for two-year terms, while one will complete an unexpired term ending Dec. 31, 2027.
The Heritage Tree Program Committee is seeking two volunteers for three-year terms. The committee meets as needed with three City Council members to discuss the program and select trees for acknowledgment.
The Tree Advisory Board is seeking one volunteer for a three-year term. The board, which includes two volunteers and three City Council members, provides recommendations on tree-related community issues and meets as needed.
