The city of Philomath needs to fill openings on multiple committees come January and is currently accepting applications from its citizens.
The vacancies to be filled include two seats on the Planning Commision, two positions on the Budget Committee, two spots on the Park Advisory Board and one seat on the Inclusivity Committee.
Seven citizens sit on the Planning Commission, which makes decisions related to zoning, land use and development. The group typically meets once per month as needed and is currently working on an update to the city’s zoning code. The available positions are for four-year terms.
On the Budget Committee, there are seven citizen volunteers. City councilors and the mayor are also on the committee, which meets several times in the spring and receives budget updates throughout the year. The two positions are for three-year terms.
The Park Advisory Board is made up of seven citizen volunteers who provide recommendations on issues related to parks and plan the annual Music in the Park series. The board meets monthly and the terms are for three years.
The Inclusivity Committee is made up of three City Council members and six citizen volunteers. The group meets monthly and the available position is for two years.
More information and applications are available on the city’s website. Applications can either be submitted online or a fillable form can be completed and emailed to cityhall@philomathoregon.gov.
