A recommendation to change to a new bus company and a discussion on safety procedures related to Immigration and Customs Enforcement are among the items that appear on a full agenda for the Philomath School Board’s Thursday evening meeting.

The regular meeting is scheduled to begin at 7 p.m. in Philomath High School’s library. Board members will meet in executive session from 5:30-7 p.m. to discuss matters as allowed by law, including the hearing of a complaint brought against an individual in the district. Executive sessions are closed to the public.

The school district’s contract with Mid Columbia Bus Co. expires at the end of the school year and a request for proposals and evaluation process was initiated earlier this year. The district received proposals from Mid Columbia and First Student Inc. An evaluation committee interviewed each company and scored their proposals. First Student emerged as the preferred choice for the board to consider.

The ICE issue came up during the board’s February meeting with some concern expressed over lack of information on protocols.

Also on the meeting agenda is a rundown of licensed renewals and nonrenewals, interdistrict transfer allowances, response to a public complaint, discussion on the district’s strategic plan, an update on legislative issues and various reports.

The PHS library is accessible through the back of the school. Meetings are also streamed on the school district’s YouTube channel.
