THURSDAY, MARCH 5
• 11:21 a.m. — BCSO took a report from a 75-year-old Philomath woman who said she had been scammed out of $3,000 in a gift card scheme. The victim received a text message regarding an unauthorized $300 Apple Pay purchase and called a number she believed to be Apple support. The person she reached instructed her to purchase gift cards.
THURSDAY, MARCH 26
• 8:58 a.m. — BCSO responded to a crash involving a vehicle and a garbage truck near the intersection of West Hills Road and Bullevard Street. According to a report on the incident, the crash occurred when a Toyota Tacoma reportedly made an unsafe pass while the garbage truck was turning. No injuries were reported.
WEDNESDAY, APRIL 1
• 1:13 p.m. — BCSO responded to a single-vehicle crash on North Ninth Street and Wyatt Lane near Philomath. According to a report on the incident, a juvenile driver lost control of a red Volvo S60 sedan while navigating a left-hand turn in rainy conditions, sliding off the roadway and into a ditch on the west side of North Ninth. The driver told deputies she was traveling approximately 30 mph when she misjudged the sharpness of the curve due to rain and a slight grade. The vehicle sustained moderate front-end damage. The juvenile was transported to a hospital by her mother for evaluation.
THURSDAY, APRIL 2
• 10:02 a.m. — BCSO responded to a report of potential mail theft from a residence on Coyote Hill Road. The resident reported that she and her husband were missing tax return paperwork and a paycheck from his employer.
FRIDAY, APRIL 3
• 11:43 p.m. — BCSO arrested a 31-year-old Dallas man on a misdemeanor charge of reckless driving during a traffic stop on Highway 20 near Blodgett. The man, who was driving a 2001 Mazda Protege, was also cited for speeding at 109 mph in a 55-mph zone.
