Volunteers with the March on Hunger effort in Philomath to go door-to-door to pick up food collection bags Saturday beginning at 9 a.m., organizers announced.
Bags filled with food items and left on porches and doorsteps will be picked up, sorted and donated to Philomath Community Services, which operates Nancy’s Food Pantry and Philomath Community Gleaners.

Teresa Nielson, one of the food drive’s organizers, shared information about what folks can do who want to donate food but either forget or don’t get their collection bags out in time Saturday.
“If they missed the pickup deadline, all donations may be brought to the hanger located at the back of the Philomath Community Church at 145 N. 14th St., in Philomath before 2 p.m.,” she said.
After 2 p.m. Saturday, Nielson said donations can be dropped off at Pioneer Connect (1304 Main St.) or Philomath Community Services (360 S. Ninth St.) on a future date.
Approximately 55 people showed up last weekend to help distribute 2,200 food drive bags all sound Philomath.
The food drive was organized locally as a response to the growing number of people in the Philomath vicinity who are experiencing challenges with food insecurity.
