FRIDAY, NOV. 29

• 6:43 p.m. — BCSO responded to a single-vehicle crash at the intersection of Highway 20 and Highway 34 near Philomath. The preliminary investigation determined that a 72-year-old Tangent woman driving a 2012 Mazda 3 had crashed after driving straight ahead instead of following the roadway around a large median. No injuries were reported.

• 11:45 p.m. — BCSO came across a crashed 2014 Toyota Prius on Kings Valley Highway near Cardwell Hill Road in Wren. The vehicle had sustained heavy front-end damage. The deputy later spoke to the driver, a 61-year-old Portland man, who said he hit a deer on the afternoon of the previous day. No injuries were reported.

SATURDAY, NOV. 30

• 4:14 p.m. — BCSO arrested Michael Don Lanpheare, 65, of Philomath, on felony charges of unlawful delivery of methamphetamine and felon in possession of firearms in a case that was initiated with a traffic stop. A deputy pulled over a 32-year-old Monroe man on Bellfountain Road near Starr Creek Road after he had been observed leaving Lanpheare’s residence on Fern Road. The driver, who was arrested on probable cause charges for possession of meth (2 grams or more), later admitted where he had purchased the drugs. BCSO obtained a search warrant for Lanpheare’s residence where a substantial amount of cash, drugs and firearms were seized.

MONDAY, DEC. 2

• 11:16 a.m. — BCSO arrested a 34-year-old Corvallis man on warrants and local charges during a traffic stop on Highway 20 near Kings Valley Highway. The man was transported to Benton County Jail.

• 1:41 p.m. — BCSO responded to a report from a 76-year-old Philomath woman that she had been scammed by someone pretending to be a fraud agent with a local bank. The woman was working with the bank to get her money back.

• 4:07 p.m. — BCSO arrested Travis Martin Kent, 35, of Tangent, on a felony warrant out of Benton County Circuit Court for failure to appear on strangulation and assault charges. Kent was transported to Benton County Jail.

TUESDAY, DEC. 3

• 9:41 a.m. — BCSO arrested a 28-year-old Waldport man on a charge of possession of fentanyl and also on a warrant out of Albany Municipal Court for failure to appear on a larceny arrest. The arrests occurred after deputies contacted three people in a Nissan Sentra camping overnight in front of a Starker Forests gate off Highway 20 across from Mary’s River Estates Road. The man arrested — he was cited and released — and two other individuals, a 31-year-old Albany woman and a 30-year-old Salem man, were warned for trespassing.

• 12:37 p.m. — BCSO arrested Randall Dreon Dorsey, 30, of Salem, on a felony charge of felon in possession of a restricted weapon and misdemeanor charges of third-degree shoplifting and possession of fentanyl after a report at Blodgett Store that three people in a Nissan Sentra had stolen merchandise. The individuals were the same three people that had been trespassed from the area in front of the Starker Forests gate only a few hours earlier. A 31-year-old Albany woman was arrested on a misdemeanor charge of third-degree shoplifting. Dorsey was transported to Benton County Jail where he was booked and released. The woman was cited in lieu of custody.

WEDNESDAY, DEC. 4

• 3:51 p.m. — BCSO arrested a 28-year-old Waldport man on a second-degree criminal trespass charge following an incident in the Blodgett area. The man was transported to Benton County Jail.

• 7:21 p.m. — BCSO arrested a 24-year-old Philomath man on a misdemeanor warrant out of Benton County Circuit Court when contacted on North 11th Street. The man was cited and released.

FRIDAY, DEC. 6

• 11:59 p.m. — BCSO arrested an 18-year-old Philomath man on misdemeanor charges of reckless endangering another person, driving under the influence of intoxicants (alcohol .08 through .14), minor in possession of alcohol and reckless driving during a traffic stop on North 15th Street near Main Street.

SATURDAY, DEC. 7

• 5:17 a.m. — BCSO arrested Johnnie Marie Wesley, 27, of Corvallis, on felony charges of first-degree burglary and first-degree criminal mischief, and misdemeanor charges of fourth-degree assault and unlawful entry into a motor vehicle following an incident at a residence in the 800 block of Heritage Hills Drive. Deputies were called to the scene for an assault involving Wesley allegedly hitting a 50-year-old Philomath man in the head and arm with a hammer. BCSO said Wesley then entered a home belonging to a 93-year-old Philomath woman in an attempt to escape from law enforcement, went through the woman’s vehicle and broke a window inside the house. Wesley’s arrest also included two warrants out of Benton County.
