The Philomath High School girls soccer team remained unbeaten in Oregon West Conference play Thursday night with a 6-0 victory at Stayton.
Freshman Kya Bolton had a hat trick in the win — including the first two of the game that came less than a minute apart in the 17th.
“Really great midfield play from Natalie (Dunn), Ana (Candanoza), Isabel (Morales-Marquez) and Annaleise (Brown),” PHS coach Mat Phelps said.
Philomath (7-2-2 overall, 6-0-1 Oregon West) took the quick 2-0 lead on those two Bolton goals — the first on an assist by Dunn and the second unassisted. The Warriors then scored two more quick ones in the 28th and 29th minutes on shots by juniors Ellie Dye and Logan Cook. Senior Charis Bumstead and Dye had assists.
Philomath went up 5-0 lead just a few minutes into the second half on a goal by Morales-Marquez with an assist by Dunn. In the 59th minute, Bolton recorded the hat trick with an unassisted goal.
Stayton, which also lost to Philomath back on Oct. 1 by a 5-0 count, falls to 2-8 and 1-6.
The Warriors will next take the field Tuesday with a trip to Cascade. The game’s start time is scheduled for 4 p.m.
