Philomath-area running enthusiasts may be interested in a new event coming to Eddyville on Sept. 21. The inaugural Crystal Creek Run includes a 5-kilometer run/walk, 10K run/walk and half-marathon, organizers announced.
The event, organized by the Eddyville Booster Club, will serve as a fundraiser for Eddyville Charter School.
The course includes the scenic Crystal Creek Loop (old Highway 20) with views of the coastal Yaquina River and forestland and goes past several historic sites, including the Chitwood Covered Bridge (for the half-marathoners).
For those interested, go online to the event’s registration page, which includes details on entry fees. Organizers are offering a $5 discount if registered by Thursday. Otherwise, registration costs are $45 for the 5K and 10K and $60 for the half-marathon.
Finishers receive custom wooden medals and there are awards for the top runners. Mo’s Chowder and free raffles will be a part of the festivities.
