Philomath Citizens Academy is now taking applications for those interested in participating in an eight-session series that will meet weekly on Thursday evenings from Sept. 5 to Oct. 24, the city announced.

The academy welcomes participants ages 16 and older and the deadline to register has been set for Sept. 3. Registration will be limited to the first 20 individuals. Registration forms can be completed online or printed out and submitted to City Hall (980 Applegate St.), through postal mail (P.O. Box 400, Philomath, OR 97370), or via email to ruth.post@philomathoregon.gov.

Each session is scheduled to run from 6-8 p.m.

The eight sessions include: Introduction to local government, community development and urban renewal, Philomath School District and Philomath library services, Philomath police and municipal court, city Infrastructure (water, sewer, streets), fire and emergency medical services, city budget and finances, and community service organizations.
