A special event scheduled for Sunday, June 30, at Philomath City Park will raise money to go toward funding local creative programs, Maxtivity announced.
“Art Amble” will run from noon-3 p.m. with the walk to begin at 1 p.m.
“We believe that creativity is a fundamental human right and everyone should have the opportunity to express themselves through art,” Louise-Annette Burgess, Maxtivity’s executive director, said through a press release. “This event is more than just a race; it’s a celebration of community and the power of creativity to change lives.”
Maxtivity, a Philomath-based nonprofit organization, said its goal is to raise $15,000 to support programs that provide artistic tools, training and platforms for underrepresented communities.
Registration fees, which can be paid online, are $45 for an “Art Ambler,” $35 for dads, “dad-like folks” and 2024 graduates and $15 for ages 5 and under. Participants can walk, run, stroll or roll ensuring there is a way for everyone to participate. Each registrant gets a large canvas tote bag and will have the opportunity to decorate it at each of the three creativity stations along the route.
Organizers urge participants to register online to secure a spot and a tote bag. Registering in person on the day of the event will be available if space allows.
Activities include face painting, art stations and vendors such as Handzy Foods and Go Giddy Pops. Participants can enter a picture of their tote bag to win prizes. There will be an art showcase featuring works from local artists. After the walk, refreshments will be available for purchase.
