Public safety officials plan to test the Linn-Benton Alert System at 1 p.m. Saturday, the Benton County Sheriff’s Office announced.

Officials said the test will cover all of Benton County with traditional land phone lines in the region’s 911 database to receive the message. In addition, those who have registered other devices with Linn-Benton Alert will also receive the test message.

The Linn-Benton Alert Emergency Notification System allows public safety officials to provide rapid notifications to residents in Linn and Benton counties of emergencies, evacuations and other urgent events.

Officials said residents should know that there will be no reason to call the BCSO office or dial 911 once the message is received.
