Philomath High School’s girls soccer program was well-represented on the Class 4A all-state team.
First-team selections included senior Kamilla Grimmer, junior Melea Lattin and junior Heidi Bacho. Senior Bailey Bell was named to the second team.
The all-state teams are determined by a vote of the state’s coaches, compiled by the SBLive Oregon staff and published jointly by SBLive Oregon and The Oregonian/OregonLive.
Grimmer scored 32 goals and had 19 assists to help Philomath to a 13-3 record and co-championship with North Marion for the Oregon West Conference title. She shared the Oregon West’s top player honor.
Lattin was a standout among the back four and Bacho was effective in the net as part of a defense that allowed only 0.8 goals per game with seven shutouts. Bell finished the season with 16 goals and 22 assists.
The Warriors reached the 4A quarterfinals this past season with a first-round victory over Molalla before falling to Hidden Valley.
Coach Mat Phelps said it’s the first time four players have been named to the all-state team since he took over as head coach in 2016.
The 4A player of the year was Marist Catholic’s Cloe Chase. Coach of the year honors went to North Marion’s Ben Bonser.
Joining Grimmer, Lattin, Bacho and Chase on the first team were Ella Braunger, Marist Catholic; Alice Davidson, Scappoose; Itzel Hernandez, Ontario; Caile Lader, North Marion; Peyton Lennox, Scappoose; Mya Mauch, Henley; Vanessa Valenzuela, North Marion and Tori Vera, Gladstone.
