The Philomath High School girls soccer team will play at 2 p.m. Wednesday on its home pitch against Estacada.
The Warriors, Oregon West Conference champions, were seeded eighth for the playoffs. Estacada finished runner-up in the Tri-Valley Conference and was seeded ninth. Both teams enter the postseason with 11-3-1 records.
Philomath enters the contest on an 11-game unbeaten streak — a stretch that included a scoreless tie against Newport and a forfeit over Taft. Estacada has won five of its last six with the lone loss coming against The Dalles, Tri-Valley champions and the top-seeded team in the playoffs.
The Warriors and Rangers have two opponents in common from the regular season — Stayton and Molalla. Philomath defeated Stayton, a league opponent, by scores of 2-0 and 4-1, and edged Molalla, 2-1. Estacada tied Stayton, 1-1, in its season opener and swept conference foe Molalla, 3-0 and 2-1.
Philomath has allowed just three goals in the 10 games it has played since a 3-0 nonleague loss to West Albany on Sept. 15. The Warriors have outscored opponents 45-14 on the season with eight shutouts.
Philomath and Estacada last played during the 2023 regular season. The Warriors won the game, 9-1, in a year when the Rangers struggled to a 2-12 record while Philomath advanced to the 4A quarterfinals.
The winner of Wednesday’s game will face the winner of 16th-seeded Baker at No. 1 The Dalles.
Admission to the match is $11 for adults and $7 for students (age 5 through high school senior). Tickets can be purchased online.
