Philomath City Council members on Monday appointed Mayor Christopher McMorran as the city’s voting delegate for the League of Oregon Cities’ annual business meeting with Councilor Jessica Andrade named as the alternate.
The League’s 101st Annual Conference is scheduled for Oct. 15-17 at the Salem Convention Center. The business meeting, held on the conference’s final day, is when member cities vote to elect the LOC Board of Directors for 2027 and take action on policy positions. Each member city gets a single vote.
McMorran and Andrade are the only two Philomath council members registered to attend this year’s conference.
“Generally, each city has to have a voting delegate and an alternate, and generally we’ve had the mayor be the voting delegate and then a councilor be the alternate,” McMorran said.
Proxy voting is not allowed under League rules, meaning whoever is designated must be present to cast Philomath’s vote.
The council approved the appointment unanimously.
