en Last Night With Apo-
plexy; Death Follows

Stricken with apoplexy soon after he had retired for the night, Bennett T. Jones, 72, farming in Benton county about one-half mile south of Philomath, died at 11:50 last night. The end came very suddenly and without warning, his death being discovered soon afterward by Mrs. Jones.

Mr. Jones had been a resident of the Philomath community and Benton county since 1900. He was a native of Indiana, but left that state with his parents during his boyhood for Nebraska where the family resided for many years. Mr. Jones then came to Oregon.

Surviving him are his widow, Mrs. Nellie M. Jones; three daughters, Mrs. Roy Beattie, Philomath; Mrs. Ray Measor, Beaver Creek, and Mrs. Andrew Patterson, Portland; and two sons, Clifford Jones, Philomath, and F.W. Jones, Gates, Oregon. One sister, Mrs. Mary Gray, resides in Kentucky, and a second one in Chicago.

Mr. Jones was a member of the United Brethren church at Philomath. He also was affiliated with Philomath Camp, Modern Woodmen of America.

The remains are at the Keeney funeral home awaiting plans for the funeral for which announcement will be made later.

Burial Is Tomorrow — The funeral of Bennett T. Jones who died July 22 at Philomath will be held Saturday afternoon at 2 o’clock from the College Church with Rev. Morris W. Goodrich officiating. Buriai will be in the Newton cemetery and funeral arrangements are in charge of the Kenney funeral home.
