The Philomath Rotary Club will host a presentation on Tuesday that covers wildfire preparedness to provide a better understanding of risks and ways to prepare. Titled “Help Us, Help You,” the program will be given by Chancy Ferguson, Philomath Fire and Rescue’s fire chief.
The Rotary meeting is scheduled to begin at noon at Peace Lutheran Church, which is located at 2540 Applegate St.
During the presentation, Ferguson also plans to answer questions about the fire district’s proposed five-year local operating levy that will appear on the May 19 ballot. The district says the levy is needed to maintain current staffing levels and emergency response capabilities as call volume continues to climb.
In addition to Ferguson’s presentation, the meeting will include the Philomath Middle School “Student of the Month” award presentation.
The event is open to all Rotarians and community members. Lunch will be provided for attendees.
Those planning to attend are asked to RSVP to rotaryfred@hotmail.com to help organizers plan for the appropriate number of meals.
