Trees will dominate the Philomath Public Works Committee meeting Friday, scheduled for 8:30 a.m. at Philomath City Hall.

The Tree Board, which meets in conjunction with the Public Works Committee, plans to discuss the planting of a replacement tree for the American elm that was removed recently in front of Philomath Community Library. The meeting packet includes a list of 13 trees that might be considered.

Also scheduled for the meeting is member Giana Bernardini’s ideas for this year’s Arbor Day school program at the public works yard. The members are also planning to discuss the city’s canopy cover project and updates to the city’s Arboricultural Manual and Urban Forestry Plan.

Tree Board members include Bernardini and Graham Seaders along with Mayor Christopher McMorran and city councilors Brent Kaseman and Rich Saalsaa.

The Public Works Committee has no business on the agenda.
