MONDAY, JAN. 19
• 1:17 p.m. — BCSO responded to a motorcycle crash on Fern Road near Powder House Road with the operator, a 64-year-old Eugene man, and a passenger, a 61-year-old Eugene woman, both suffering injuries. According to a report on the incident, the motorcycle was headed north on Fern Road when the operator lost control while encountering ice in a shaded stretch of the roadway. The motorcycle was laid down on the operator’s left side. Both were transported to Good Samaritan Regional Medical Center with injuries.
• 2:18 p.m. — BCSO responded to Highway 34 near Gray Creek Lane for a crash notification that had been received from a cellphone. The deputy found the cellphone in the roadway smashed into several pieces and attempted unsuccessfully to identify the owner.
TUESDAY, JAN. 20
• 3:14 p.m. — BCSO responded to a single-vehicle crash on Maxfield Creek Road about 4-1/2 miles east of Kings Valley Highway involving a Toyota Corolla that had gone into a ditch. A passerby found the vehicle with one occupant, who had suffered injuries of an unspecified severity.
WEDNESDAY, JAN. 21
• 8:57 a.m. — BCSO responded to a single-vehicle crash on Maxfield Creek Road in Kings Valley involving a Saturn Vue that had gone off an icy section of roadway. Upon arrival, the deputy found the driver, an 84-year-old man, and a passenger, his wife, an 83-year-old woman — both of Newport — out of the vehicle, which was halfway in a ditch. The Saturn was removed via tow truck and BCSO put in a request to public works to put sand down in that location to prevent further crashes. The BCSO report indicated there were injuries but a Philomath Fire and Rescue response showed that they declined transportation to a hospital.
SATURDAY, JAN. 24
• 10:23 a.m. — BCSO responded to a report of trespassing near Blodgett. According to a report on the incident, a former employee of the property owner was on the site wanting a ride to Newport. The man, a 48-year-old Albany resident, was trespassed from the property after being located in front of the Blodgett Store.
• 11:37 a.m. — BCSO received notification of a single-vehicle crash that had occurred at 12:30 a.m. on a Forest Service road around 2 miles from Marys Peak Road. According to a report on the incident, a 20-year-old Corvallis man was driving too fast and slid around a lefthand corner, left the roadway and ended up with the passenger side of the vehicle against several trees. The driver and his passengers got rides from friends that were also traveling with him. The driver said he did not know that reporting the crash was required. The sheriff’s office, when notified, contacted the registered owner of the vehicle, who said a tow truck was on the way to get the vehicle, a 2018 Toyota 4Runner. The deputy met them at the site to collect information for a crash report.
SUNDAY, JAN. 25
• 10:51 a.m. — BCSO arrested a 49-year-old Eugene woman on a misdemeanor charge of driving while suspended during a traffic stop on Bellfountain Road and Decker Road.
