The Philomath School District is recruiting two community volunteers to serve on its Budget Committee, which helps oversee the district’s annual spending plan and provides citizen oversight of taxpayer funds.
The school district has been advertising the vacancies since late this summer but did not receive any interest. Those interested are asked to submit applications prior to Oct. 31.
The Budget Committee reviews the district’s proposed annual budget each spring, typically meeting for one budget information session and one or two work sessions. Formal committee meetings — usually one or two — occur from early May through late June and typically last no more than two hours.
Volunteers must live within the school district boundaries, be qualified to vote and cannot be district employees or officers. The volunteer positions carry three-year terms expiring in June 2028.
The School Board plans to review applications, conduct interviews and make appointments at an upcoming regular meeting.
The committee includes all five School Board members plus community representatives. Current community members are Shelly Brown, Kimberly Lopez and Alexandria Baldwin.
Interested residents can obtain application materials online or by contacting district business manager Jennifer Griffith at jennifer.griffith@philomath.k12.or.us or 541-929-3169.
