Organizers are planning a No Kings Day of Action rally from noon-3 p.m. Saturday at the Benton County Courthouse in Corvallis. The event coincides with other such rallies across the country for what organizers describe as rising threats to democracy.

Organizers are planning a different approach than the June No Kings rally, which featured musicians, speakers and interactive art.

Saturday’s gathering will begin with a “Parade of the People” march through downtown Corvallis starting at noon, followed by a “Dance of Defiance” back at the courthouse until 3 p.m.

Indivisible Benton County is organizing the event with Good Trouble Corvallis collecting nonperishable food donations for local food banks.

The June 14 No Kings protest drew what organizers estimate was more than 5 million participants across all 50 states. Organizers said thousands of events are planned nationwide for Saturday’s day of action.

All No Kings events commit to nonviolent protest, with organizers trained in de-escalation techniques and working with local partners to ensure peaceful demonstrations.
