FRIDAY, SEPT. 5
• 8:43 a.m. — Troopers responded to a motorcycle crash on Highway 126E near Leaburg that took the life of Lucas Charles Thomas, 38, of Springfield. OSP’s preliminary investigation indicated that Thomas was headed east on a Suzuki GXR when he struck a deer at around 3 a.m. The collision caused him to lose control, leave the roadway and travel down an embankment. Thomas was declared deceased at the scene.
MONDAY, SEPT. 8
• 2:18 p.m. — Troopers responded to a single-vehicle crash on Highway 99 in Jackson County that took the life of Cody Austin Jenkins, 26, of Gold Hill. OSP’s preliminary investigation indicated Jenkins was driving south on the highway in a Subaru Legacy when the vehicle veered across the northbound lanes, broke through a fence and entered the Rogue River. The vehicle was quickly submerged with the driver unable to escape. Jenkins was declared deceased at the scene. There were no other occupants. The Jackson County Search and Rescue Team assisted with the operation.
TUESDAY, SEPT. 9
• 8:25 a.m. — Troopers responded to a vehicle-pedestrian crash on Highway 6 about 30 miles east of Tillamook that took the life of Jaime Cristobal Aguilar Herrera, 25, of Beaverton. OSP’s preliminary investigation indicated that a semi-truck operated by a 64-year-old Portland man was traveling east on Highway 6 when a pedestrian entered the lane of travel for an unknown reason. Herrera was struck by the truck and later pronounced deceased at the scene. The truck driver was not injured.
