Editor’s note: This report is based on information submitted by the Philomath Police Department. All calls for service may not be included. The status of incidents might change after further investigation. Locations are approximate and may not be included if it could identify victims of certain crimes of a sensitive nature (sexual abuse, stalking, etc.). Individuals are identified in the log only if arrested on felony charges. Calls that involve the Department of Human Services and minor children are not included. Juveniles are not identified. People arrested or suspected of crimes are considered innocent until proven otherwise.

FRIDAY, JULY 18

• 7:43 a.m. — Police arrested a 42-year-old Philomath man in the 1800 block of College Street on a misdemeanor charge of second-degree criminal mischief with damage. The man, who also had multiple warrants, was cited and released.

• 9:24 p.m. — Police responded to a one-vehicle crash at Bellfountain Road and Shamrock Lane involving a collision with a deer. The deer was reportedly observed jumping over a fence and into a wooded area. No injuries were reported for the motorist.

• 9:57 p.m. — Police responded to a report of a woman who was sleeping near a trash dumpster in the 1400 block of Applegate Street. The woman, who told police that she had missed the bus, was advised by police that she could not stay on the property and was provided options on where she could sleep. 

Other calls: Police responses included motorist assistance at 1:08 a.m. (Southwest Philomath Boulevard and Southwest Blueberry Drive, Corvallis) unsecured business (Applegate Street) and a dog found at 10:49 a.m. (Applegate Street). PPD reported four traffic stops.

SATURDAY, JULY 19

• 5:36 p.m. — Police arrested a 24-year-old Corvallis woman in the 1600 block of College Street on a warrant for failure to appear in court on a criminal citation.

• 8:34 p.m. — Police responded to a report of a traffic hazard involving unsupervised children who were riding a child-sized motorized toy vehicle near South 19th Street and Applegate Street.

• 9:56 p.m. — Police responded to a report in the 1800 block of College Street of a 42-year-old Philomath man who had made threats against another individual. Police talked to the man, who at that point in time had not committed a crime, but acknowledged the possibility of escalation. The area was to be included in areas to patrol throughout the night.

Other calls: Police responses included a suspicious vehicle at 3:51 a.m. (North 16th Lane), overdose or ingestion of poison at 8:08 a.m. (Main Street) and a barking dog complaint at 9:43 a.m. (Mount Union Avenue). In addition, police assisted another agency on a call at 3:03 a.m. (Northwest Jackson Avenue and Northwest 29th Street, Corvallis). PPD reported 15 traffic stops.

SUNDAY, JULY 20

• 7:04 a.m. — Police arrested a 42-year-old Philomath man in the 1800 block of College Street on a misdemeanor charge of second-degree criminal trespass after the suspect allegedly threw a beer on a vehicle.

• 5:50 p.m. — Police arrested a 20-year-old Monroe man at North 15th Street and College Street on a misdemeanor charge of second-degree criminal mischief with crime damage.

Other calls: Police responses included a city ordinance violation at 3:25 p.m. (North 12th Street). In addition, police assisted other agencies on calls at 10:03 a.m. (South 11th Street) and 11:13 a.m. (Highway 20/34). PPD reported three traffic stops.

MONDAY, JULY 21

• No calls of significance were reported.

Other calls: Police responses included a parking complaint at 9:14 a.m. (Main Street and North 10th Street) and advice on a civil dispute at 4:39 p.m. (South 26th Street). In addition, police assisted another agency on a call at 11:50 a.m. (Main Street). PPD reported six traffic stops.

TUESDAY, JULY 22

• No calls of significance were reported.

Other calls: Police responses included a dog complaint at 9:47 a.m. (Quail Glenn Drive), city ordinance violation at 11:56 a.m. (College Street), welfare check at 4:38 p.m. (South 10th Street) and a mental health situation at 5:28 p.m. PPD reported six traffic stops.

WEDNESDAY, JULY 23

• 10:57 p.m. — Police responded to a report of shots heard in the 2500 block of Newton Street. Police were unable to find anything suspicious in the area.

Other calls: Police responses included a city ordinance violation at 10:42 a.m. (Main Street) and a non-911 issue at 8:49 p.m. (Applegate Street and South 13th Street). PPD reported six traffic stops.

THURSDAY, JULY 24

• 8:56 p.m. — Police responded to a single-vehicle crash in the 600 block of Main Street involving a collision into a power pole. No injuries were reported. The crash did minor damage to the pole.

Other calls: Police responses included a noise disturbance at 8:25 p.m. (South Seventh Street and Main Street). In addition, police assisted another agency on a call at 8:02 p.m. (Southwest Plymouth Drive, Corvallis). PPD reported 10 traffic stops.
