The Benton County Board of Commissioners, a followup public hearing on the Coffin Butte expansion application and budget meetings by the Philomath School District and city of Philomath are among this coming week’s governmental meetings.
In addition, the League of Oregon Cities is bringing its Small Cities program to Philomath.
Following is a rundown of all government meetings for the week of May 5-9:
Tuesday, May 6
- The Benton County Board of Commissioners plans to meet at 8:55 a.m. at the Kalapuya Building with an agenda that includes new business on applying for funding related to medical services at the jail, the appeals process for tobacco retailers, updating an intergovernmental agreement with Corvallis related to a collaborative housing project and ratification of a letter of agreement with the labor union regarding the Benton County Crisis Center. - The Benton County Planning Division will start or continue the public hearing process on a Republic Services conditional-use permit application regarding Coffin Butte landfill expansion from 6-9 p.m. at the Kalapuya Building. Information on the public hearing is available online.
- The Philomath School District’s Budget Committee plans to meet in Philomath High School’s Community Conference Room to go through information and give the public an opportunity to comment. Here is a link to the proposed budget. And here is more information on the Budget Committee meeting.
Wednesday, May 7
- The city’s Budget Committee plans to meet at 6 p.m. at City Hall for an agenda that includes a presentation of the proposed budget for fiscal year 2025-26, an opportunity for residents to speak during a public hearing and a page-by-page review of the budget book. Thursday, May 8
- The Philomath School Board will meet for its regular monthly meeting at 7 p.m. at the Philomath High School Community Conference Room. Agenda topics include safety committee, student services and facilities updates, a student representative to the board, possible approval of the district’s Integrated Guidance Plan report and a vote on two resolutions to transfer money between funds. Time is set aside to hear reports from the school superintendent, business manager, student government and the education associations. Prior to the regular meeting, there will be an executive session to begin at 6 p.m. as allowed by state statute. Executive sessions are closed to the public. Friday, May 9
- The League of Oregon Cities’ Small Cities program will come to Philomath City Hall for a Region 4 (South Willamette Valley) president’s regional meeting from 11 a.m.-1 p.m. The meeting includes a presentation, lunch and a roundtable discussion. LOC’s Small Cities program provides leaders from cities with a population less than 7,500 with an opportunity to meet, network and discuss issues.
