To the Editor:

The Mary’s River Post 100 in Philomath wishes to extend its tremendous gratitude to the Confederated Tribes of Siletz Indians for their contribution to the Philomath community.

This past year, the Siletz Charitable Contribution Fund generously awarded the American Legion a $1,500 grant for the purchase of a new mobile public address sound system to be used for both summer concerts as well as to project voices at a variety of other events across our community.

The American Legion collaborated with City Hall staff to utilize these grant funds to purchase a two-way rechargeable public address system with Bluetooth and handheld wireless microphones. The system is light, portable and projects high-quality sound.

This past year, this sound system has been used at Music in The Park concerts as well as the 16th Street reopening in September. It was also utilized in November at ribbon-cutting events for both the Streetscapes and the Paul J. Cochran Veterans Memorial Park. It has been well utilized.

The Siletz tribe’s generous contribution has helped lift our voices and serves as a great resource for community building.

While the sound system serves as a way for us to communicate with one another, this letter serves to communicate our gratitude to our generous tribal neighbors from the Confederated Tribes of Siletz Indians. Thank you for all you do for our community. We acknowledge you and appreciate you.
