The Philomath News depends on the financial support of advertisers and readers to reach sustainability and continue to report on the community. Launched in November 2020, the all-digital news site reports on city government, education, public safety, special events, local sports and many other types of news, including features on our citizens and organizations. A Community Calendar helps keep folks on top of events, public meetings, sports schedules and other activities.

Philomath News reader and site visitor analytics support this notion — the demand for local news remains.

GIVING BACK TO COMMUNITY

The Philomath News is published by Brad Fuqua, a local resident who has been reporting on this community since late 2014. One of his most important goals with the news site is to keep it free for all to read with no paywall. That means a senior citizen on a fixed income does not have to make any sort of financial sacrifice to access local news. It means high school students that play on the basketball team can easily read about themselves or view their photos through the local coverage. It means you can stay on top of city and school government and the decisions that could impact your life. It means — well, you get the idea, so much more.

Beyond keeping the site accessible, the Philomath News also tries to give back in other ways. For example, obituaries are published free of charge — a service that can cost hundreds of dollars with other news organizations. Another example would be the newsletter that is sent out free to anyone who wants to sign up. The newsletter provides a rundown of the latest news and sports, publishes the latest image in the popular Philomath in Photos feature and includes upcoming listings from the Community Calendar.

A LOW-COST WAY TO CONTRIBUTE

Join the local news effort through our low-cost advertising options. For just $29 per month or $319 per year, you can add your logo to our news site in one of various “Thank You to Our Sponsors” sections. Your logo can include a link that takes folks directly to your website or social media page. Or, for just $39 per month or $429 per year, you can publish a business card ad that gives readers more information. Again, it clicks through to an online site of your choice.

Business and organizations that purchase either a logo ad or business card ad also receive a special shout-out from the publisher on the Philomath News Facebook page, which is closing in on 2,200 followers.

So, keep your logo or business card in front of our readers at a low rate while also helping the Philomath News and its bottom line.
