The Philomath Youth Activities Club is inviting parents to sign up their children to participate in Fun in the Sun, Safety Town and fall sports.
Fun in the Sun, an all-day certified child-care program, is open to kids ages 5 to 12. The youngest age must be entering kindergarten this fall. The program is available from 7:30 a.m.-5:30 p.m., and offers activities such as group games, arts and crafts, science projects and more based on weekly themes.
Safety Town is for children entering kindergarten at Clemens Primary School this fall and registration is now open. Under the guidance of a teacher, law enforcement officer and teen instructors, children are introduced to many types of safety concepts. They will practice being safe pedestrians and drivers of peddle cars in a miniature town. Other activities include songs, art projects, videos, a bus field trip and many presentations.
Safety Town volunteers are also needed and PYAC is taking applications from youth that have just completed the sixth grade or older.
PYAC is also signing up kids for its fall sports programs, which include volleyball (grades 4-8), tackle football (grades 5-8) and flag football (grades 3-4). The club is moving forward as if it will be a regularly-scheduled season without restrictions. The deadline to register for fall sports is July 9.
