Lupe’s Community Garden is getting ready for the growing season.
This past Saturday, 11 volunteers got together for a garden party with program managers Sandy Heath and Lindy Young. In roughly two hours — a little rainfall didn’t slow them down — the volunteers attached cattle panels, repaired a gate, spread wood chips and tamped down fence posts.
At harvest time, produce is often given to the Food Bank and Gleaners programs at Philomath Community Services.
“We did get a lot done and enjoyed ourselves at the same time,” Heath said. “I truly thank everyone that came out on a bit of a rainy Saturday to help us prepare for the new season. I’m very excited to get the garden growing again and look forward to seeing some of you there.”
PCS is grateful to Scouts, PCS volunteers, board members and program managers for helping “spread” some goodwill.
