Historical Obituary: Jacob H. Fridley (1830-1875)

OBITUARY

Died—At his residence near Corvallis, Ogn. Jan. 3rd 1875, Jacob H. Fridley, aged 44 years. He was born in Crawford Co., Pa., emigrated to Ill. In 1851–to Oregon, in 1853, was united in marriage with Miss Elvira Powell in 1854. Professed religion, and united with the M.E. Church in 1852, and continued an acceptable member of the same until he died in full hope of eternal life. He leaves a wife and four children on the mortal shore. He often spoke tenderly of the sweet and lasting influence exerted upon his mind by the prayers and counsels of a deeply pious mother. During his protracted illness, he manifested great patience and resignation, and expressed a willingness to depart. His funeral services were conducted by the writer, on the 30th ult. G.W. Day, Corvallis, June 7, 1875.
